Consultation
The MNBC Natural Resource Act became MNBC Legislation on September 27, 2008.
- The MNBC Ministry of Natural Resources has developed Consultation Guidelines under the authority of Article Eleven of the Act concerning Consultation.
- As required under the Act and after consultation with MNBC Chartered Communities, the MNBC Consultation Guidelines were adopted by official MNBC Board motion on February 25, 2009.

- As part of the Consultation Guidelines, the BC Métis Assembly of Natural Resources completed the Traditional Knowledge protocol and procedure including a definition of traditional knowledge.

Métis Traditional Knowledge is that body of information, values, beliefs and practices passed from one generation to another by oral means or through land-based experience that pertains to the identity, culture and heritage of the Métis people and their respect for the land and its resources.
