Central Registry Notification of Citizenship Card Renewal Process - Updated July 13, 2010

Please be advised that effective April 1, 2010 the central registry will implement the citizenship card renewal process. MNBC citizenship cards require renewal every five (5) years to ensure the citizen's registry file is current.

The MNBC citizenship registry will issue a reminder letter to citizens holding cards requiring renewal sixty (60) days prior to the card expiry date. Please ensure your contact information is current to ensure a timely notification.

The following information is required for renewal:

  1. Completed card renewal application form
  2. Current passport color photograph
  3. Twenty (20) dollar renewal fee
  4. Expired citizenship card
  5. Proof of residency if not previously submitted to the Central Registry: Please submit one item from the list below to cover the three (3) consecutive months prior to your renewal application. The item you choose must include your name and current address.
    1. Current income pay stubs (for 3 consecutive months)
    2. Current bills for BC residence (for 3 consecutive months) ie: utility/telephone/cable/gas
    3. Current BC residential property tax bill
    4. Residential insurance; tenant insurance
    5. Residential rental or lease agreement
    6. School registration or report card
  6. Completed INAC screening form with acceptable identification attached if not previously submitted to the Central Registry

Cards expire every five (5) years using the Citizen's date of birth as the criteria for determining the expiry date.

Please be advised Citizenship cards issued prior to April 2009 do not have an issue or expiry date on them, the Citizenship database has been programmed to capture Citizens that fall into this category.

If you have any questions regarding the renewal process or require further assistance please contact the MNBC Centralized Registry at 604-678-6977 or 1-800-940-1150
