15th Annual Provincial Conference on Aboriginal Education
Reconnecting Generations
For fifteen years, the Annual Provincial Conference on Aboriginal Education has been a source of information and inspiration for those who are dedicated to delivering quality education to Aboriginal learners in British Columbia.
The conference will be at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver on November 5-7, 2009 Mark November 7th on your fall calendar, and watch for registration and exhibit table details in the fall at www.mnbc.ca/education. A full schedule of workshops, panels and guest speakers is now under development.
Share your Knowledge
We are seeking workshops relating to the theme, Reconnecting the Generations, including topics such as involving Elders in the classroom, building strong connections between students and communities, engaging parents and grandparents, sharing traditional knowledge, and more. Workshops are also welcome on other themes that are integral to Aboriginal education, including enhancing student success, integrating Aboriginal perspectives, developing curriculum, and promoting language revitalization. Consider ways to make your workshop fun and interactive!
Scope: early childhood, through to post secondary and adult education
Audience: teachers, principals, counsellors, Aboriginal support workers and
all others involved in education from the public, independent and First
Nations school systems.
Workshop length: 1.5 hours (usually presented twice).
