Declining of Applications

PROCESS FOR DECLINING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING

The MHRDA Program Coordinator will advise the applicant in writing of the decision to decline funding, and will outline the reason(s) for the decision. If the request has been referred to the Appeals Committee or the MHRDA Regional Development Coordinator for a decision, the applicant must be informed within five (5) working days. The applicant will also be informed of the Appeal Process.

REASONS FOR DECLINING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING

  1. Insufficient funding available – appeals are not permitted for this reason.
  2. The request is not employment-related, or is not sufficiently supported by labour market information or a Return to Work Action Plan (including conferences and/or workshops).
  3. The applicant has not met established program criteria or policies.
  4. The applicant has not provided enough lead time for processing.
  5. The applicant has not demonstrated Métis citizenship.
  6. The applicant has not provided proof of residency in the specific geographic area served by the MNBC–MHRDA (Region) in B.C.
  7. The applicant has not met the entry requirements of the requested training.
  8. The training does not provide certification recognized by the industry, or is not on the Private Career Training Institution Agency (PCTIA) of British Columbia’s List of Currently Accredited Institutions.
  9. The application/file is incomplete.
  10. The applicant has not successfully completed programs previously funded by the MHRDA, and/or is in a substantiated overpayment situation, including fraud.
  11. The applicant has reached the maximum funding level allowed.
  12. The applicant has applied for funding in a category that is subject to Regional limitations. (e.g., Region may have set a maximum of ten percent (10%) of their total program funds to be used for specific training areas).
  13. The applicant has not demonstrated financial need.
  14. The applicant has reached the maximum funding time allowed (as per regulation) - appeals are not permitted for this reason.
  15. Other – as determined by RETC, Program Coordinator, legislation or regulations
