Opportunity
The Four Host First Nations (FHFN) and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) are preparing for a Vancouver 2010 Indigenous Youth Gathering (2010 IYG) involving the hosting of approximately 350 Aboriginal youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit ) from across Canada in the Vancouver and Sea to Sky region from January 30 to February 14, 2010.
The 2010 IYG is an integral part of the FHFN and VANOC’s Aboriginal sport and youth strategy and will meet the following objectives:
- Provide the opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime 2010 Games experience for approximately 350 First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth from across Canada that will impact their lives positively.
- Bring together First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth as a celebration and showcase of the diversity of Aboriginal peoples in Canada and the 2010 Winter Games, and to create an environment of learning and cultural sharing between youth from across Canada through the Olympic Movement.

Vancouver 2010 Victory Ceremonies Volunteer Position
Presenter Escort
- Liaise with International Client Services (ICS) in regards to Presenter(s) for the relevant Ceremony(ies)
- Meet and greet Presenter(s) on arrival at Staging Area
- Brief Presenter(s) on the Ceremony including; duration, pathway, choreography
- Advise presenters to remove Games Accreditation, leave personal belongings with ICS staff and to switch off cell phones
- Ensure Presenter(s) are in correct position in Staging Area
- Escort Presenter(s) on and off the Field of Play
- Escort Presenter(s) into appropriate position at the correct times during the Ceremony
- Assist Presenter(s) with any other questions s/he may have and if not able to answer, direct them to the appropriate person

2010 Aboriginal Pavilion
Technical Director
Reporting to the Creative Director, the Technical Director will be responsible for developing and coordinating all technical aspects of production. This includes all A/V support, lighting and sound work delivered adequately and safely in the principal performance area. The Technical Director will also work closely with the Director of Venue Operations and the event producer. This position will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Director, Pavilion Operations
The Director, Pavilion Operations, will oversee all Aboriginal Pavilion operations including, but not limited to: staff fulfillment of tasks and responsibilities; finish out and installations at the venue; security, cleaning and maintenance, and contracted services, and; daily transition from day programming to evening shows and events. This position will be the key on site contact for day-to-day operations, issues, and venue related functions. Once the Aboriginal Pavilion has ceased operations, this position will oversee responsibilities related to dismantle and load out. This position will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator will finalize the recruitment of Volunteers for the Aboriginal Pavilion and Business Showcase and develop and deliver all training required for volunteers. This position will also develop volunteer shifts and schedules. This position will also be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Site Crew
Each Site Crew member will assist with maintenance, daily installation, dismantle, delivery and load outs to/from the Aboriginal Pavilion. Each Crew member will also assist in ensuring the Aboriginal Pavilion is safe, clean, and hazard free for visitors, staff, and volunteers. These positions will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Audio/Visual Technician
Reporting to the Stage Manager, the Venue Technician will ensure proper installation and running of lighting and audio visual equipment at the Aboriginal Pavilion key performance area under the direction and instructions of the principal sound and light designers. This position will work with internal and external client groups, including working with Partners on Theme Day presentations. These positions will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Stage Manager
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Stage Manager leads the Venue Technicians in proper installation and running of lighting and audio visual equipment at the Aboriginal Pavilion. This position will work with internal and external client groups, including working with Partners on Theme Day presentations. This position will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Communications Coordinator
The Four Host First Nations (FHFN) is seeking two talented individuals to join a dynamic team delivering world class programming for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinators will support the delivery of the FHFN/VANOC Communications Strategy for the 2010 Aboriginal Pavilion and Aboriginal Artisan Village and Business Showcase including assisting with media relations, stakeholder communications coordination, event planning and developing content for web, print and video. These positions will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of information amongst Communications team members, as well as other members of the FHFN/VANOC team.
Team Lead, Events
Assisting and coordinating the work of Event Managers and Event Coordinators, the Team Lead, Events will ensure a smooth delivery of event strategies and pre-games event planning in consultation with internal and external groups. Efficiently coordinate event elements and Event Volunteers at the 2010 Aboriginal Pavilion. These positions will be part of a team delivering a well hosted, world class visitor experience.
Manager, Media Relations
The Four Host First Nations (FHFN) is seeking an experienced media relations professional to join a dynamic team delivering world class programming for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The Manager, Media Relations will be responsible for developing and implementing a proactive and reactive media relations strategy for the 2010 Aboriginal Pavilion and the Aboriginal Artisan Village and Business Showcase. The successful candidate will work closely with Manager, Communications to ensure that the media relations activities are consistent with the overall FHFN/VANOC Communications Plan.
